Sauze has a great range of skiing linking into the Milky Way and other close by resorts. English is widely spoken, food is reasonabley priced, ski shops abound. The resort is a little lower so snow has been patchy the last few years. In a week you couldn't ski it all.

Great for skiing. so many slopes/km of trails.
Great for skiing. so many slopes/km of trails. Local people are friendly. village/town is nice and great food / restaurants.
It's a shame that for 50 Euro/day the ski resort has no gondolas or faster lifts.
Otherwise we love coming here!

A lovely little town with many great bars, restaurants and of course great skiing! The Old Town is all picturesque cobble streets and cosy venues and the apres ski is also good. Access via skis to nearby Sestriere is also possible, which opens up another large ski area for those wanting more pistes to play on.

Sauze d'Oulx is a very quaint town with a lot of history.
Sauze d'Oulx is a very quaint town with a lot of history. If you want a cosy, picturesque stay in the mountains better to stay in Sauze than Sestriere if you're looking to ski at the Via Lattea resort. There are many good restaurants such as La Griglia and many bars, including sports bars. A lovely deli (Gastronomia) which I picked up many treats from and a pasticceria (Pasticceria Valsesia) where I bought loads of lovely Italian biscuits to take home with me.

Amazing after-ski vibe.
Amazing after-ski vibe. Cute village with a lot of restaurants serving delicious food. You do have to book ahead or you find yourself flitting from one establishment to the next trying to find a table for dinner. Cobblestoned roads. Easy acces to ski lifts and rental ski shops and easy to find shops selling ski gear.
On rhe fownaide i found no dki instructirs availablexthere and then so it s importantvto pre book
What a fantastic hotel. Couldn’t be in a better location for the ski lift in jouvenceaux, and lifts are kindly arranged each evening up to Sauze which is then just a short walk downhill back. Breakfast was brilliant. What makes this place is the people - so kind and thoughtful, planning taxis / recommending and booking restaurants. Nothing too much trouble. Thanks so much to everyone, especially Nicoleta who made us feel like we were at home.
The rooms are basic, the breakfast is similar with a small buffet selection, but you get what you pay for and this hotel is really good value and really close to the Clotes ski lift. It also has ski storage room accessible from outside which is locked up at night. The beds were very comfortable after long days skiing and having a balcony helps keep your drinks cold!
Hotel seemed brand new and well designed. We had a large room which was kitted out to a high standard. Friendly and helpful staff (particularly reception). Excellent breakfast and a nice, relaxed place to have dinner after a full day of skiing. Great location, close to some shops and restaurants and not too far to walk to the Clotes ski lift.
At first glance the hotel appears dated, but it is actually a very traditional Italian place to stay. Guests were from many countries. Breakfast was excellent and their is a dinner menue if you want it. There is a ski locker, car parking and it is in the heart of the town. Only meters from the Clotes ski lift, bars, restaurants and shops.
The hotel is modern and clean, and the location is very good. The Clotes chair lift is only a 5-7 minute walk away, which is convenient. The decor is modern and not your typical kitsch mountain cabin style (which is a nice change). The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Our host Sarah was the best thing about Hotel Gran Trun. So friendly, knowledgeable about the area and great taste in wine. Gave us great restaurant recommendations. Charming hotel in old part of town on cute cobbled streets.
Great buffet breakfast with a massive range of food & lovely view. Love the bar area! Staff helpful. Good to buy lift pass at hotel with discount. Ski locker room very convenient & warm. Easy shuttle bus to slopes.
very good breakfast, the outside jaccuzzi is nice after ski, really high level service from the staff (family run hotel), great bathroom, a short walk to the ski lift and to lots of restaurants
The location is beautiful and, with some minor but significant nuisance to be sorted out, would deserve a 5 star rating. We could dine at the hotel only once but the cuisine is really great!
Gran Trun is a gem in this vintage ski town. Sarah was incredibly helpful in directing us and extremely friendly when we met in the bar / dining area of the hotel each morning and evening.
The hotel deserves a much better rating if the communication got improved.
I got a very hard time getting an invoice. I finally got a totally unproper invoice with no ID from the hotel.
Minibus transfer to/from the town was great - without that the hotel would be a long (steep) walk away. The driver (Gigi) was brilliant- any time day night wasn't a problem.
