Beds were comfortable. Has a premium look about the hotel generally. Rooms were clean and housekeeping was good. The champagne reception was a good experience. We had dedicated waiting staff that topped up drinks and provided a good service. The waiter remembers us and spoke to us the next day at breakfast. This was very pleasant and the kind of service we would expect and appreciated.

FAQs about hotels in Chester

A Walk Through History

Featuring half-timbered buildings, almost complete city walls and a wealth of Roman heritage, beautiful Chester sits by the border with Wales.

The southernmost gate of the walls overlooks the River Dee, and the road leading north is one of 4 in the city to follow the original Roman roads. To the east, the Roman Gardens include a reconstructed underfloor heating system.

Nearby Grosvenor Park has remains of a stone Roman amphitheatre, thought to have been built on the world’s largest wooden amphitheatre at the time. Over the river in the suburb of Handbridge is a 2nd-century shrine to Minerva, and an informative display in the Grosvenor Museum provides the background to all this heritage.

In the west is Chester Racecourse and nearby are the medieval castle remains. More medieval buildings line the cobbled city centre streets. Some of these are The Rows, black-and-white timbered buildings housing 2 levels of shops. Other shopping options are the indoor market by the cathedral, and the Cheshire Oaks Outlet Village in Ellesmere Port to the north. The road out there passes Chester Zoo, one of the UK’s best zoos.

Booking.com’s range of Chester accommodation includes hotels with swimming pools, guest houses by the train station and B&Bs with parking near Chester Airport.

Chester is a beautiful and ancient city where Roman Legionaires, Viking raiders, and Norman invaders once walked. We especially enjoyed the Roman Amphitheatre ruins and the 1000 year old Cathedral. It is worth the trip.

    Chester is absolutely beautiful.

Chester is absolutely beautiful. Anyone visiting should walk on the city walls, go in the Cathedral and take advice from the tourist information centre who are so very helpful. Many fabulous boutiques as well as well known shops. Lots of restaurants and bars, pedestrian areas etc. Lovely walks by the river Dee. The designer discount outlet, Cheshire Oaks is great. All on one level or easily accessible ramps, nice dining areas. Staff really helpful and free parking in the multi storey! Definitely going back! We ate at the Cosy club, and saw Kinky boots at the theatre, which was awesome. Chester is well worth a visit!

The city is vegan friendly, as well as the people being friendly. All historic sites are within walking distance, there is a sightseeing bus that does a tour with added river cruise as part of the price. Chester is still being excavated due to new architectural findings. The Visitor centre is well located, near to the cathedral, and the staff are very helpful. There are many places to eat, some restaurant chains and many local businesses.

The hotel staff are very friendly & kind.Good location near the train station and near to Chester city centre, very clean and the fact that they could have charged so much more the hotel but charged a very reasonable price instead esp for Chester, is every credit to the hotel.I will certainly recommend this hotel to anyone and will be going back again at somepoint. You probably will have to book quite early for this hotel as I can imagine it's really popular.

This hotel is ideally situated a few minutes walk from Chester’s city centre restaurants, bars and other attractions.
