Getting here was already promising, then arriving and parking confirmed that we made the right choice for a hotel near Keswick. The hotel is situated in an idyllic area, surrounded by green hills and very quiet as it is just a bit off the main road. We had a lovely greeting before being shown to our room and were even given tips for late-evening walks. Breakfast and dinner were both exquisite, far exceeding our expectations.
All in all, we could not have wished for a quieter, better equipped, or prettier hotel for our 3-day Lake District trip.
Highfield features great lake and mountain views and its own private car park. The beautiful rooms have en suite bathrooms and tea/coffee making facilities.

Keswick is beautiful ! I was staying in Portinscale just outside of Keswick village/town. Lots of cute little country pubs with amazing food. I loved ES Bar for Mexican tapas definitely recommended, also loved the country walk from Portinscale to Keswick. Lovely scenery and wildlife to see on the way

A nice little town that catered for all ages especially liked the puzzle museum, one downside was the price of the toilets which at 50p is expensive. The meals at Brasserie 31 while expensive was very good as was the meal we had at the Golden Lion

There are wonderful hikes of all different lengths -- one hour to 8 hours -- and you get extraordinary views from all of them. And there always seems to be a nearby pub at the end of the hike! Truly great hiking and friendly people. We had a great dinner at the Fellpack restaurant too.

Very nice town many interesting shops pubs and cafes with a very good museum stop the weekly market small bit interesting. It was a very short walk down to the waterfront which has a good compliment of boats etc. The variety of pubs was excellent and it was much appreciated that the town had a wetherspoon. As a transport hub it was easy for myself which did not have a car to visit many areas. It is also close to both high heels for walking and for much lower level walks what's up this would suit all tastes.

We have been visiting Keswick for forty years with our family , who now visit with their own children . Brilliant place for families , as there is so much to do and see , both in Keswick and surrounding areas .
The location is perfect and only a stones throw from the town centre, but also quiet. The apartment is of a high spec with all the neccessary amenities. Parking is located in close proximity and the use of key box works very well and saves the hassle of having to pick them up elsewhere.
We had an issue with the newly installed dishwasher tripping out the power which could happen anywhere. We were able to contact Sykes Cottages who dealt with this promptly and efficiently.
I would definitely visit again and would highly recommend.
Everything was superb. Jo is a great host and I couldn`t fault anything. Breakfast was really delicious. Jo was very welcoming and gave great customer service as we went on the Derwentwater boat trips and Jo kindly rang ahead to see if they were running. Room was really nice. Location only 10 min walk from the town centre and easily found an on street parking space just outside the guesthouse. Definitely recommend this guesthouse to others and will definitely stay again when next visiting Keswick.
Very relaxing in all respects. Loved the traditional oak staircase and wood panelling, comfortable lounge and dining area. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with a good choice of options. Evening meal was very good as well. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great location with lots of walks on the doorstep and nice views over Bassenthwaite lake. The town centre of Keswick is a 10 minute drive away. Truly dog friendly and great to see!
Going with family I wanted a discount self catering option in or close to Keswick and the Derwentwater Hotel did not disappoint. Literally 2 miles from the center. 2 Bed apartment was more than spacious for 4 people with everything we needed for our short stay. And the location was spot on with beautiful grounds to walk around too. Staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough. Prices were reasonable in the restaurant and bar where we spent the evening relaxing.
The staff were brilliant and the food was absolutely first class. As this small and friendly hotel is located a short drive away from the tourist town of Keswick, we felt they probably have to work harder for their custom - Location, Location, Location!
The standard of the hotel, the service, the breakfast, the evening meals and overall value far surpassed anything you'd get in the town centre for the price.
Located overlooking the main square in Keswick means it can get a bit noisy but the benefits of easy access to all of the town centre amenities far outweighed that inconvenience. The room was spacious and the bathroom was very modern and well equipped. The hotel public areas were well maintained and the restaurant service and food quality was very good.
Breakfast always delicious. Paul was very friendly and helpful in recommending us good restaurants and walking routes. Despite the predictably awful weather in the lakes in November we had a fab time exploring Derwentwater.
The B&B is close to Keswick town centre, easy to find and has lovely views of the River Greta and Skiddaw.
The apartment was very clean, modern had everything and more that we needed.
Beds comfortable and plenty of space for the 3 of us. There were plenty of toys/ games for a rainy day but luckily we didn't need them.
The apartment was 5 minutes to the centre of Keswick so location was perfect.
Will definitely book again thank you.
Great location, very close to the Town centre. The apartment was very comfortable and clean and had everything you need. The bed was very comfortable. Simon was very attentive and came out straight away when there was a problem with a ceiling light. We will definitely stay again.
The host and staff were very helpful and friendly. The meals were tremendous, the steak and gammon were cooked exactly the way we asked. The hotel is such good value for your money and is right in the middle of Keswick. We would definitely recommend this hotel.
The house was immaculate, well appointed and in a great location to be quiet, but still only a few minutes walk from Keswick town centre. Parking was free and right outside the house. We would definitely recommend Stanegarth, and indeed stay here again.
Excellent location. Friendly staff. Breakfast was great. View overllooking woodlands and the lake in the distance was fantastic. Close to the town centre and close to the lakeside. All in all a great stay in Keswick.
The hotel was perfectly placed for walking into Keswick town centre and had its own car park. The property was bright and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely!
Great location just a couple of minutes’ walk into Keswick town centre. Excellent views over the river and Fitz Park. Good value. Well equipped. Comfortable bed. Good quality linen and towels.
The couple that run the guest house are extremely friendly, helpful and efficient
The property is nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable and in a great position in the centre of Keswick
