FAQs about hotels in Honolulu

A True Water Sports Paradise

Standing proudly on the island of Oahu in the Pacific Ocean, Honolulu is the Hawaiian capital, meaning "a sheltered bay." Spreading along the white sandy beaches and supported by the strong back of the volcanic mountains, it's a real island paradise.

Honolulu's most popular and famous district, Waikiki, features the stunning Waikiki Beach decorated with hundreds of surfboards, palms and lounge chairs. It’s also a center for the city’s nightlife and shopping, especially along Kalakaua and Kuhio Avenues.

As the most popular activities in Honolulu include surfing, snorkeling, canoeing and other water sports, it's no surprise the city has a number of sandy beaches. Try Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped beach with rolling, green hills behind it.

For fans of hiking and exploring, nature awaits at Diamond Head Mountain, a volcanic tuff cone where you can admire the panoramic view of the city. There is also the Bishop Museum with the world’s largest collection of Hawaiian and Pacific artifacts and the Waikiki Aquarium with over 490 species of marine fauna and flora.

From hotels near Honolulu International Airport to hotels near the beach, Booking.com has plenty of properties, from cheap to luxury, for your Honolulu trip.

Honolulu is a big-ish city, it has a big mall, lots of tall buildings, government buildings, homeless people, etc... If you are looking for a slower more relaxed vacation with fewer people and buildings, look at the other islands, or at least don't stay in Honolulu/Waikiki. On the other hand, there are a lot of great little food places and more than their fair share of brew pubs.

Love the warm balmy atmosphere, the trade winds mean you never feel hot or sticky. And the water is so warm at the beach. Love the gardens everywhere and the lovely paved footpaths. The whole tourist area is kept very clean neat and beautiful. The food is fantastic. There is so much free entertainment too. Live bands and hula performances outdoors everywnere. Once you're there you don't have to spend much money at all and there is so much to do and see. You can get cheap food at the food courts plus ABC and Seven-11 stores. And The Bus is so cheap and the drivers are very helpful. Don't miss the fee Military Museum at Fort Derussy park. And the zoo is wonderful. Plus of course the two best attractions, Pearl Harbor and the Polynesian Cultural Centre. And swimming at Waikiki beach in late afternoon and sunset is superb.

    Honolulu was pretty.

Honolulu was pretty. I was shocked at the graffiti I saw at Wai Kiki. That needs to be cleaned up and new walk ways put in. You hear of this beautiful breach your whole life and then you show up and there is graffiti. the people were nice and the beaches were great and on the north shore. Wai Kiki was nice but just busy and graffiti at some spots.

This hotel was amazing. It has the best view in the city of Diamond Head. It is steps from the beach, has a lovely restaurant and pool and a modern, feel-good lobby area. We loved the free yoga class and lei making workshop. We did both twice! The staff were all helpful and friendly and a lovely older gentleman at the valet thanked us for our loyalty, as we had stayed at the hotel twice that month (at the start and end of our Hawaii tour). The hotel was definitely as good as the other big names in the area, but at a much more affordable price.

We enjoy the location close to Ala Moana shopping centre, Ross and Wal-mart. We also enjoyed the breakfast, tasty , good options to choose from and the discount on breakfast. We like the fact that this is a hotel that serves local people, and Hawaiian residents who live other islands in the state. In other words, this hotel does not have a tourist vibe. I like coming to the Pagoda, because I used to live here in Honolulu as a child and I remember my parents would come to the restaurant for special family dinners.

Everybody knows the Waikiki Beach area of Honolulu is very overpriced & unnecessarily so. This hotel is by no means cheap for a stay per night but is the best value for money in that area & the staff are excellent. Add to that a free continental breakfast & how much more spending power staying at this hotel puts in your pocket for the vacation, it takes a bit of beating for Waikiki. It was a very pleasant stay. It is not a spectacular hotel, but very nice for the area & very well positioned for a stay in Waikiki.

Close to the main beach. Very nice service at the desk. Water refills near reception. Breakfast included in the price and remember Hawaii is expensive. Microwave in the lobby. Tea and coffee options. Hotel gives free of charge equipment to the beach. Big room, lots of space in the bathroom to put cosmetic around . Hair Conditioner in the shower. Perfect view over the ocean and Diamond Head mountain. Unbelievable top city spot for best tuna salmon poke we have ever eaten just on the cross corner of the hotel.

BEAUTIFUL!!! Exactly what I would expect from a Hawaii hotel for my first time visiting. It's NOT a resort hotel, but the attached restaurant is great and the location for the price is perfect! Very close to all the shopping and the beach. And across the street are a couple amazing food trucks. One with fresh and unique donuts. The hotel was clean, friendly and they have a valet that made sure my rental was taken care of and ready when I needed it. We loved it so much, we extended an extra night!

The location is perfect and the facilities were above my expectations. My room was a high floor and the view was spectacular. The staff were incredible. Fantastic location directly across the road from the pier between the sheltered Kūhiō Beach and surfy Queen's Beach and also from the Honolulu Zoo and Kapiolani Park at the end of the Waikiki hotel strip. There's free parking in the soundshell car park a few minutes walk away. The pool on the third floor has great all-round views of the ocean, park and Diamond Head. There's no pool-side bar but it is a lovely oasis above the crowds and we took our own drinks.
