Been visiting Barmouth area for years.
Been visiting Barmouth area for years. Wide Sandy beaches and dunes. Barmouth is a small town with basic shops, takeaways and a good amount of pay parking.
Outside of the town are lots of smaller villages, beautiful scenery including Snowdonia and castles such as Harlech.
If you want a good breakfast/ fry up try the Milky Bar cafe just up from the level crossing. Never had a bad meal there in 40 years 😊👍

Most guest houses seem to be on the seafront.
Most guest houses seem to be on the seafront. The views from there are excellent. A half mile walk takes you across the railway viaduct where the view towards Dolgellau along Avon Mawddach is one of the best in Britain. To access the land on the far side of the Mawddach is best on foot, because by car it is necessary to drive either ten miles into Dolgellau or use the toll bridge at Penmaenpool, which saves only a couple of miles. The hills behind Barmouth have excellent views but involve a very steep climb. The best route up is to follow the signs to the National Trust's Dinas Oleu property. Other than that, the great attraction for Barmouth is the hill walking. All of what I've said here does depend on good visibility. Being Wales, rain and low cloud are not uncommon, but that is hardly Barmouth's fault!

We've visited the last 40 odd years....a lovely seaside town with the added bonus of spectacular scenery. The Mawddach Estuary and Bridge make it for us but equally when the kids were young there was the beautiful beach and places to go crabbing. We used to cycle along the old Mawddach railway track with them in their seats on the back. Wonderful walks, lots to do and explore.

Barmouth is a lovely seaside town in Wales.
Barmouth is a lovely seaside town in Wales. It is not overcrowded with activities which means it has kept some of its charm but there is plenty to do. There is a nice beach, a small funfair, a couple of amusements, donkey rides and plenty of lovely places to eat. The harbour is worth a visit and a lot of people enjoy fishing for crabs off the pier. We took a beautiful ferry ride one morning over to Fairbourne and caught a small steam train along the peninsula taking in the sprawling estuary on which Barmouth sits and it is sandwiched between the Snowdonia mountain range. A beautiful view of sea and mountains.

I booked here not knowing what to expect, but thinking it could be some sleepy little fishing town with not much on. But its proximity to the mountains - we came to walk Cader Idris - coupled with the fact that there was a beach was appealing to us.
When we arrived we found a clean, well-maintained town with plenty of options for food and drink, a decent selection of shops - which were thankfully not all tat-filled giftshops, a lovely beach with arcades and a small selection of rides for children.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay that isn't too heaving so that you can relax, unwind in nature, visit the beach, or take in some of the walks, I would recommend a visit.
Most reviews about Lawrenny Lodge rave about how great the couple who own it are and I have to say I can wholeheartedly confirm them to be accurate. If fact, they couldn't be nicer or more helpful.
The accommodation is a nicely updated big old house, so it has tons of character, but is warm and comfortable.
Exceptionally clean as well.
Location is great and they have their own parking lot which is incredibly useful as it is generally limited around town.
Breakfast was high quality you can select the time you want it to be served.
Thank you Chris and Zelenie for welcoming us into your home. Me and my mum really enjoyed our stay in room 6 and we can see what all the hype is about.
Room was immaculately clean, decor was contemporary with a splash of traditional furniture.Beautiful sea view you won't be disappointed.
A small fridge was in the room which was handy. An excellent guest house to stay at in Barmouth, easy access to the beach, town and restaurants. No breakfast served however plenty of local options, Look forward to coming again. Thank you.😊 x
I recently stayed at the hotel, on arrival staff were great and helped me with any questions i had. Downstairs is fab, dining area and bars done to excellent standards. My room was exactly as shown on the pictures so cant complain and was excellent for price in the area. Room was cosy and clean with all the amenities you'd expect. Id booked for an evening meal and the food was spot on. Im a frequent visitor to the barmouth area and would definitely stay again. Wonderful hotel and hospitality
We had a brilliant stay Lawrenny Lodge.
+ Location is just a 10 minute walk to the centre of town (Shops, beach etc)
+ Marie and Kevin were 2 of the best hosts that we've had from all of our trips so far. Super welcoming and accomodating.
+ Breakfast was fantastic and there are alternatives for anyone with food allergies.
+ The rooms are pretty big, comfortable and clean.
Overall we would recommend to stay here for your trip to Barmouth.
This is a lovely boutique hotel in the seaside town of Barmouth. It was so friendly, the staff could not have been more helpful. The room was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean with complimentary Molton Brown toiletries. Breakfast was very efficient and delicious. Good range of cold and hot choices beautifully cooked and presented. Fresh pastries and fruit as well. It was excellent value.
Absolutely spotless. The towels were luxurious- just like home.
Location just perfect.
Beds really comfortable.
Stylish decor. Sky TV.
And when I kind of got lost on arriving in Barmouth, Debbie was on the other end of the phone.
Would definitely stay again.
This is an exceptional property. Yes, no views as such, but it had everything.
Loved the welcome pack. The finishing touch.
Lovely ,friendly staff who made time to speak and get to know you ,even though we had a short stay we were made very welcome ,breakfast was tasty and lots on the menu,we didn't have dinner in the hotel by choice but it was available..bar was open to guest and public until late .access to our rooms and the hotel whenever we wanted .Right on the sea front 🙂
Lovely apartment with plenty of space and really sweet and thoughtful finishing touches. The location is perfect, with just a two minute walk to the beach, and an even shorter walk to the town center. Trevor was only a text away for any questions or needs and couldn't have been more accommodating. We'll definitely be back, full stars from us!
A thoroughly relaxing break in a superb seafront hotel . Only a few seconds and you're in the wonderful sand dunes with the sea a few yards away . If , like me you get worn out walking , the views are great from seaview room as you crash out ! The hosts are lovely , laid back and welcoming . The whole town is spacious and friendly . 😊
Breakfast was exceptional, of all the B&B's, Cafe's I have eaten in this is the best! Room was exceptional, great view, Bryn made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Even the cleaning lady was lovely and friendly. This far exceeded my expectation and this will always be my first choice to stay when we go to Barmouth.
The view from our room was priceless in fact the view from any where at the front of the hotel was the same, just beautiful. The full English breakfast, top marks and the staff perfect. Will we visit again most certainly a big yes. Barmouth is full of restaurants to suit all tastes and the Last Inn serves excellent food.
The room was airy, well appointed, clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. The position in town made the stay convenient and allowed us to take in many activities during our stay. Coffee/Tea making facilities good and the bathroom was clean and spacious.
Room was really nice. Breakfast service was good and the host was really friendly. Breakfast was good but didn’t like to give the choice the day before I would of preferred to order on the day. Good location in Barmouth.
The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The pub/hotel has been developed to a high standard and the rooms very comfortable.it feels totally in keeping with nature of a holiday resort like Barmouth.
The hotel was amazing brand new carpets very clean the bed was so comfortable I think it was a new bed. So worth the money will definitely stay again if I go back to barmouth
