This is a basic hotel but that's what I was expecting so wasn't disappointed.
Set in a traditional Scottish manor house within landscaped gardens, the Macdonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa is on the outskirts of Falkirk and Grangemouth.

The corridors and rooms must have floating floors, as everywhere you walk creaks like a haunted house.
Everywhere back from the lobby and reception is tired and dated, with circa 2008 decor and furnishings.
The room TV was a first generation LCD, with a Teletext button on the remote control, which was a nice retro touch.
I found the bed a bit too firm, but that's a personal preference and not a criticism. Everywhere is pretty clean, but towels and linen are only changed once every two or three days if you stay the week. Is that normal? Maybe.
Some of the surcharges are bordering on extortion - £6 for various 'special' items on the breakfast menu, on top of your £24 already paid - by 'special' I mean Eggs Benedict, etc. Room service is an additional 'small fee' (their words, not mine) of £8. So if you have Eggs Benedict in your room, which I obviously didn't, that's gonna be £38 please.
Be aware, the room rate fluctuates, so check your bill at the end, or check your booking through this website, as I didn't notice thought the room rate for the week would be the £130 quoted for the first day. Wednesday I was charged £200 for the same room.
The staff are great and the food is good.
The gym is small and seems to be constantly busy, but you can get in, get a workout done and get out.
The Spa is OK, with the pool being the main attraction. The Steam Room and Sauna are decidedly small - 4 people and it's a little too intimate to be honest.
Parking is good, with good DDA access and parking too.
Just a 5 minute walk from Falkirk town centre and a short drive from Falkirk Golf Club, this 3-star hotel is the perfect place for both business and leisure breaks

I live in Falkirk and rented this property for my daughter,...
I live in Falkirk and rented this property for my daughter, There are the newer attractions near by, Kelpies, Falkirk wheel etc yet the town stretches back through history for a few thousand years, 2000 years ago it was the northern most frontier of the Roman empire, The antonine wall is a World Heritage site and runs through the town. The resting place of William Wallace best friend is a little churchyard in the centre of town, where other leaders from "The battle of Falkirk" in 1298 are laid to rest and is a 15 minute journey from Stirling where the Wallace monument and Stirling castle are. For people wanting to see the cities, Falkirk is about equal distance from both Glasgow and Edinburgh with trains that run all day, public transport is great for getting around the main places, though a car would be needed to explore the not so main places that said, most of those are only an hour or two drive away from Falkirk so its a great place to plan a tour of Scotland, or a short term stay, you avoid the bigger tourist places and the bigger tourist prices but get the exact same experience.

Falkirk is a place without pretensions.
Falkirk is a place without pretensions. People are generally friendly and I like wandering around. The museum and gallery are great and so is Callendar Park. The stadium is terrific and would support a team in the top flight.

The Kelpies are a must to see both day & night.
We also ate at a few local restaurants…
Cafe Corvina (Italian)
Sanam (Indian)
Central Perk (British for breakfast)
We were also recommended the Tea house (Chinese) but didn’t have time to eat there due to a short stay.

The Falkirk Wheel & Kelpies is well worth a visit.
The Falkirk Wheel & Kelpies is well worth a visit.
The Boat Trip on the Wheel is good, however you can actually walk the boat route by footpath & it is actually better seeing it from the footpath as photo opportunities are better. The lighting in the Canal Tunnel is IMPRESSIVE.
Top of the list is the excellent service provided by Caroline and Joanne. They are a real asset to the hotel and showed a genuine enthusiasm to provide customer satisfaction. Even arranging early access to dining room for breakfast as we had an early morning flight. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We chose it because of the close proximity to the Falkirk Wheel, The Kelpies and the airport. The added bonus was a nice restaurant and bar in the hotel with good reasonably priced food.
We both loved the friendliness of the owners Pat and Bill. From the word go we were greeted with a warm welcome and when we left it was like leaving friends. The room we stayed in had a 4 poster bed, a wonderful little on suite bathroom, plenty of tea and biscuits and lovely views of a sunset over the beautiful Scottish hills. No. 54 is in an excellent location near town centre, The Kelpies and The Falkirk wheel. We can not wait to re-visit when we travel to this region again.
The central location for tourist destinations was outstanding. 20 mins to Doune and Doune Castle, a few minutes to the Falkirk Wheel; 10 or 15 mins to Stirling Castle and the Wallace monument. Additionally, it was near a couple of super-markets so purchasing food that we could prepare in the home was very easy. Finally, the home was very clean in a nice, quiet neighborhood. It perfectly met the needs of my wife and I, along with our traveling companions.
The apartments are well located, close to the motorway and well placed for visiting Glasgow and Edinburgh. Although parking is on-street, it is set back from the road and immediately outside. The apartment was well equipped and close to a retail park with chain restaurants and a variety of supermarkets. Falkirk town centre is easily within walking distance and there is a range of independent restaurants close by.
The hotel was ideally located for easy access to the motorway and onwards to surrounding areas including Falkirk, Stirling and Edinburgh. Room was spacious, even with an extra child's bed, and comfy. Breakfast was excellent and served fresh by the friendly staff. The pool was an added bonus and we had no problems booking slots for each day of our stay.
Centrally located to so much! Within walking distance of the ScotRail, the grocery store and other conveniences, walkable neighborhoods. The living space was great for us, very clean, all the amenities we needed, bed was comfortable, shower hot with great water pressure. A great, private parking space off the road. And our hosts were amazing!
We had a wonderful stay. Very clean and comfortable room with everything we needed. Just a 5min drive (or short walk and 15min bus ride) to the train station to get into Edinburgh. Nice, friendly host. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Edinburgh/Falkirk/Stirling.
Very centrally located in Falkirk. Easy walk to the town centre. Close to many attractions such as Falkirk wheel, The Kelpies. The two train stations are also close by.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. Check in and check out was effortless. Rooms were very clean.
The staff were exceptional very easy to converse with. They paid exceptional attention to our every need. Also with detailed help getting around their beautiful historical area. Thanks to orchard hotel staff for a very special time in your country.
very inexpensive and a short drive to downtown falkirk. had dinner one night in the hotel and one next door at Chianti. both were very good. breakfast is continental. rooms were clean and fresh towel were given on the second morning
Fantastic location on edge of town. Walking distance to local bars and restaurants.
Far more facilities than a local hotel ie Premier Inn/ Travelodge and far more reasonable between 4 adults.
Thankyou so much
The rooms are well equipped, and the bathroom is surprisingly big and clean. We only stayed one night, and not a long one either, but it was ok. The hotel has a night porter for if you need something.
The area was great had everything easy access to visiting places the good thing we was visiting friends who live in Falkirk so that made it easy for us with not been there before we will be back
Absolutely gleaming clean! Spotless. Loved the location on farm and for walking. 15 mins by car to town centre of Falkirk. Lovely smart kitchen with plenty of room to work.
