We hiked in the Burren National Park (which is free), and that was lovely. It's very rocky, so I'd recommend bringing hiking boots or really durable shoes if you're planning on going on some of the more difficult trails. We ate at Leanne's Lobster Bar and Monk's Seafood - both were great, though their menus do overlap quite a bit (but we enjoyed something different both nights).

Very little choice of places to eat or have a coffee.
Very little choice of places to eat or have a coffee. Tea rooms not open at 11am on Thursday as suggested. Had a fab dinner at Monks and on a return visit next morning at 1130am had great tea n scones in front of blazing stove. Superb.

The hosts were very friendly right from greeting us upon arrival and giving us tips to serving us breakfast before we left. The full Irish breakfast was very good. We had dinner before arriving in Ballyvaughan, and only stayed for one night. We had a car, so it was easy for us to drive into the town centre from there. We would stay there again. We were given tips of sites to see when we left, and one we were glad not to miss was the Poulnabrone Portal tomb.

We only were able to stay one night.
We only were able to stay one night. It was a great launch pad for visiting the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher. The people were friendly, the food was great and the pub was fun with local, live music!
We recommend it!

The Clare Way is a nice way for walkers.
The Clare Way is a nice way for walkers. There are at least two good places to eat out.
Some side roads are in a poor state of repair. Clare County Council need to fill the pot holes and try and keep the roads in decent repair. This includes some access routes to this property.

A beautiful traditional Irish village with all you need for a comfortable varied stay in Ireland. Situated between the stunning Burren and the cliffs off the Atlantic Ocean, and nestled on the south side of Galway Bay, Ballyvaughan is ideally located. There are a lot of places to visit in the area. You can swim in the bay or on the nearby Bishop's Quarter beach. In Summer or Winter there are lovely places to visit and in Ballyvaughan alone, the fabulous Monk's seafood restaurant is a great spot with super friendly staff, a warm welcome and really fabulous food. I cannot wait to go back to Ballyvaughan!
This hotel is on top of my list for our Ireland trip. While not convenient for a Galway visit, it's absolutely perfect to get away from it all. It's extremely charming, with views to die for and hosts that go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The two "relaxation rooms" were always ready with a warm fire and it made for a perfect ending of a day spent sightseeing. I can't praise the hosts enough for their attentiveness and overall hospitality. The breakfast was excellent every morning. A true gem!
We arrived after a very long travel day from the US and happily got to park behind the hotel. They upgraded our room to a seaview so we were THRILLED. The room was wonderful and the breakfast was the best on our trip (we stayed at two other hotels on our trip too). Multiple choices for breakfast and wonderful coffee too. Monks for dinner was great! We ate there both nights we stayed at the inn.
The woman at the front desk (I feel bad we didn't get her name), was extremely attentive. When there wasn't room in the bar, she got us all set up in the lobby - nice and cozy! We noticed that she was very attentive to other guests as well. The hotel is charming and cozy - very clean and neat. There is parking in the back which is very handy.
Excellent breakfast. Lovely clean room. Very nice & friendly owner. The room was as good as a hotel's and better than most. Nice and quiet with no noisy revellers shouting at 3am like I've often experienced in the best of hotels. Very close to the town so very handy to get to Ballyvaughan town centre. Would highly recommend.
Hosts were very welcoming. Beautifully clean, appointed self catering Studio with fresh supplies of bread, milk, tea, coffee and cake. Perfect location for visiting Aillwee Caves and a good stop along The Wild Atlantic Way.
Lovely rural setting with a short drive to local town.
The location was terrific- walking distance to a couple of restaurants in the village, plus close to the bus stop if you are not driving. Breakfast was lovely with French press coffee, delicious cheeses and pastries, plus choice of eggs and bacon or an Irish breakfast.
Hotel was gorgeous. The room was very spacious, as was the bathroom, and was beautifully decorated. Bed was very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back again. Food was great.
Very spacious and comfortable cottage. Great location to explore County Clare from (and tip up to Galway on a rainy day 🙂). Nice bars and restaurants in Ballyvaughen, would recommend dropping into O'Loclainn's
Bridget was really nice. She tried to help us with whatever information she could share about Restaurants, parking etc. She asked for breakfast choices well in advance. Premises and rooms are kept clean.
The hotel is ideally located for visiting most of the attractions in co Clare and Galway. The food was excellent and cooked fresh
. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was spotless
Very comfortable, clean hotel with excellent staff. Bedroom was perfect.
Everyone was friendly and efficient.
Food was very good and there was music in the bar every night
