Rocklands Guesthouse, hotel in Castlebar

Located in Castlebar and only 10 km from National Museum of Ireland - Country Life, Rocklands Guesthouse provides accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking.

We came by train to Castlebar. Rocklands Guesthouse is about 30 minutes walk from the station along quite busy road with no sidewalks mostly. Better take a taxi. There are two comfortable beds, hairdryer, TV and huge bathroom. House is very warm and you'll feel like home there. Hot beverages available.

Layout of the town is terrible.

Layout of the town is terrible. Very difficult to find things and drive in for someone who is not familiar with it. Restaurants are adequate; a good variety. Mostly need to be there because of services (solicitor, accountant, etc.). My understanding is that the hospital is not very good.

We as a family spent a long weekend in Castlebar.

We as a family spent a long weekend in Castlebar. A car is not required to get around town. There are many lovely cafes for lunch and we had dinner at Pizza Bros which was very reasonably priced and food was delicious. There are many other lovely restaurants to choose from. The Irish Bar looked great for lunch but due to it's popularity we didn't get to try it. Another great pub - John McHales. Went there on Sunday night and they had live music playing - great atmosphere. We found an Escape Room Experience called INSiDE which is about a 15 minute walk from the centre of town - highly recommend it... we really enjoyed it. We also went bowling and then hired a car and went to Westport for a day. We ate at The Towers Bar & Restaurant. Food was amazing.. We drove along the coast to Bertra Beach with amazing scenery along the way. Could have done with a few more days - great weekend

Castlebar isn't particularly interesting...we only ever use it as a stopover or a base to travel further into mayo and Galway ... Westport Cong, Ashford castle /Achill are accessible and beyond to Connemara if you don't mind driving....

Castlebar is a substantial town, with some good amenities and shopping. It's a good base for exploring Mayo and is reasonably close to Knock, Westport and Killala. Happy to recommend Bistrot 1798 restaurant - we had a lovely meal there. Great ambience and food, and very efficient, pleasant service. Good for a date night.

Castlebar is a vibrant town plenty of shops on the doorstep of the Ellison hotel beside the lovely Peace Garden Memorial and the National Museum of Ireland is just out in Tourlagh. Some of the crossing are hard to manage with a wheelchair.

Beautiful and large room with en-suite bathroom and large bath tub. The bed was extremely comfortable with soft and crisp bed linen. We had a great night’s sleep. It is a lovely quiet spot but only a short drive from Castlebar (5mins) and Westport (15mins). We enjoyed a full Irish on the second morning of our stay which was amazing. Mary was very welcoming and accommodating. Would very much recommend to others.

The room was very big and spacious. The beds were soo comfortable and we had a great night sleep. The room was lovely and warm (not too hot). We stayed only one night as we went for a concert but I would definitely come back. It only a 5 minute drive from Castlebar, was a nice location. Margaret was a lovely host and had a nice chat with her before we left. Next time I’m in Mayo, I’d stay here 🙂

Beautiful hotel. we were here in December. it was fabulously decorated. Spotless. The pool was lovely. The staff are exceptional especially Mairead who made our dining experiences so enjoyable and made our children very comfortable and at home. in all the hotels we have ever been in we have never come across anyone as good at providing great service and hospitality as Mairead.

The food was great as was the breakfast and the staff were very nice and helpful, the Breaffy is set in such a nice place and so quite lots of walks, ponds, and little fairy walks for the kids and very close to Westport and other places around, a great place to stay for anyone who likes peace and quite an all round great hotel well worth the price.

The house was lovely and Helen is a fantastic host. It was very clean and cosy, with so much on offer. The views toward Party and Aughagower were beautiful. Its very convenient for castlebar Town if you have a car. We were offered a lift if required. One of the nicer places I've stayed.

Very quiet location and lovely landscaped gardens. Exceptionally friendly and helpful host. Meadbh insisted on running my wife and into nearby Castlebar (twice) so that could both enjoy a drink. The studio apartment wants for nothing and a full Irish breakfast was provided too.

I loved my room, Deborah was friendly, welcoming and kind. The Hotel is very well located, and the room was super comfortable. It was a stormy night, and the WiFi was a bit weak, but allowed me to work and do everything i needed. I will go back to Kennys next time in Castelbar.
