The Citadel was a little disappointing. It has the potential to be a major attraction. The grounds needed lots of attention. The main royal palace was under construction or maintenance, so a 'no-go zone'. Having read about the damage to the Citadel during the 1968 events, expectations about the Citadel were modest. However, both the city and the Citadel turned out to be quite charming and captivating. We spent more than half a day exploring the Citadel. Using Grab for transportation made it easy and convenient to explore the city. The hotel is very conveniently located close to main street and walking street and the river and heaps of eateries nearby but still quiet as it’s in a side alley. Loved our balcony overlooking the neighbor’s garden jungle and altar house. Lovely experience overall and would go back without hesitation.
