FAQs about hotels in Geneva

Gateway to the Swiss Alps

Known for its international diplomacy, Geneva is the gateway city to the Swiss Alps and contains many international organisations that lend the lake-side city a cosmopolitan flair. It is filled with the best in cuisine, diverse languages and people, and top 5-star hotels.

It's easy to fly in to Geneva Airport, and like the rest of Switzerland, the public transport system is incredibly efficient. And the antique shops and steep, cobbled streets of the Old Town can be explored by foot or bicycle.

Many of the sights are monumental buildings such as the St Pierre Cathedral, but you can escape the chilly winters inside museums and galleries displaying everything from the Renaissance to the Contemporary.

Even if getting out into the wilderness of the Swiss Alps isn’t an option, there’s plenty of nature accessible within the city limits. Parc des Bastions offers tree-lined walks and a game of giant chess and Parc de la Grange is a green space situated on the Lake Geneva promenade. Jet d'Eau, a 140-metre high fountain in the centre of Lake Geneva is beautifully lit at night.

With over 90 hotels available, Booking.com ensures that whether you are travelling for business or pleasure you can experience the best accommodations Geneva has to offer.

    Very beautiful city, loved the lake and the stroll in the city center. Botanical gardnen is lovely and so is the mini zoo and sites in Bois de Batie. It is quite expensive and while people are lovely, you can run into those weithers who understand English but refuse to speak it I only read about in the reviews of sites in France.

    Excellent places to visit - Cathedral, the Lake was amazing - water taxis included on your travel pass, Paddle boat runs all year round. Jet D'eau was amzing. Public transport was comprehensive and punctual. CERN is a must see. Air quality was excellent. Pound Stirling to CHF was not greast so comes accross as expensive - worth doing your home work before you travel. Be a savvy diner. All things said, it was my second trip and I am going back again in mid Masy!

    Carouge is a unique and super nice district! Enjoyed the cafés, the small stores, the artisanal vibe, art where you look. Great tramways, bus system - easy to get around. Next time by bike. The city has lots to offer beside jet d’eau - of course the common chains but check out the area around WHO and Red Cross museum.

    A nice city, but it feels like a lot could be seen in little time. I stayed for 2 days and it seemed enough. The lake is nice, and I like the diversity of restaurants there. A lot of rare birds for France, but handfed by the public, which isn't nice. Public transportation is easliy accessible and it was very nice to get a free illimitated pass even to the boat buses (given by most of the hotels)! There is also a small open air iceskating ring, a lovely park by the lake and virtual reality experience. We did walk past a man searching for a fight around 8PM (he was obviously drunk and told us to call the cops, and we had just walked past 3 frightening guys, not so far from the center), and we also saw a cyclist inconscious on the pavement by day with a huge injury on the head... Not feeling really safe there ^^;

    Geneva is like a condensed version of Manchester: big buildings, great transport infrastructure, and welcoming people. It is extremely expensive though - 3-4x as much as London, which shocked me. However it is a bit grotty near the train station (where all the best ethnic food is typically), and I didn't feel totally safe. Interestingly, the RLD felt relatively safe because it was so busy with tourists ogling and locals going about their business. You do get approached by prostitutes but they're friendly enough when you say no so it wasn't anything that made me feel uncomfortable etc. The parks and gardens are outstanding. I also enjoyed the reptile house near the airport. The coffee and snacks at Boreal are fantastic and they cater for dietary requirements and speak fluent English too, so I spent a lot of time there. With all this said, Geneva is worthy of a short weekend city break or enjoying a long layover in, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there for longer.

    I come to the Hotel with my family for many years and I am a big fan. I think its one of the best hotels in Geneva in terms of price & return. Although its a 4 star hotel I feel like the level of service and amenities are 5* level. Nice, comfy and quite rooms. Perfect location (close to city center and train station) and great restaurant and staff. I recommend the hotel for nice & cozy stay. Also I feel like the fact that its family owned (since 1972) makes it more special, as staff members really care and want you to come back.

    This is the best hotel we ever stayed in : modern, conveniently located near airport with the free shuttle, next to the tram station,the hotel provides free tickets. It takes only 15 minutes to reach the center of Geneva. Very comfortable mattress and pillows, bath robes and sleepers provided. Excellent breakfast with a huge variety of food to satisfy every palate, including mine : they made crepes in front of you. I decided to sign up for Marriott membership after staying with them. The room was of Ramada standard, that is rather spacious, noise-isolated and clean. The bed was really LARGE and very comfortable. The receptionists were very effective. The hotel is situated out of the city centre noise, some 15 min ride by bus. A shopping centre is in the same building - very-very convenient to buy food on our return in the evening; closed on Sundays, as all shops in Geneva. Train station is one bus stop from the hotel. The hotel provides with free transport tickets for all the stay.

    We stayed here in December on a trip visiting Christmas Markets. We liked the location because we could walk from the train station to the hotel and it was walkable to Lake Geneva, restaurants, historic Geneva, and shopping. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and it was very good. I suggest you make a reservations is you want to eat there for dinner, as it was very popular. Breakfast is also available. We were on the third floor and there was an elevator.

    The hotel is located in a great neighborhood, bus stops are ~5 minute walk, the Geneva Bus Station is 3 minutes walk, and the train station is 10 minute walk. It is also 2 minute walk from the lake with a lot of restaurants surrounding it. The staff were amazing and very helpful, always ready to answer any questions, I didn't face a single hassle while staying there. And on top of that, on my birthday, they left me a beautiful present in the room!

    I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Crown Plaza Geneva, I had decided to stay an extra day following a ski trip with friends to Chamonix and this hotel was superb, the room was very clean and quite and the staff incredibly friendly. However, one of the best features was the free shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel every 20 minutes, this was a life saver for me and I used it several times.
