Nusa Penida is hard enough to get to by the time you buy boat tickets, get to the harbour, wait around, board a small hot fast boat and getting off the other end you need a driver to collect you as its busy, dusty and hot. You want to get off that boat and into an air-conditioned car straight away and be taken to your hotel. The island is beautiful; however, you will need a scooter, a car or driver. Its isolated and unless you love walking in the heat long distances you will need transport to see the sights. We rented a driver for 2 days and he took us to the tourist spots. The road is very small and curvy but our driver was good. The views were amazing.
