Houghton Place is located in Johannesburg and offers modern and luxurious accommodation. Free WiFi access is available. The property has a lovely garden and outdoor pool. Staying at Houghton Place felt more like visiting far-away family than staying at a hotel abroad. It was absolutely marvelous: beautiful modern interior, lots of fresh air for morning yoga, delicious freshly-made breakfast, the kindest owner (thank you, Sam, I learned a lot from you) and... (an unexpected bonus~~) two cutest labradors! Getting from and to the airport felt safe and easy thanks to the meet-n-greet service offered by the Place (thank you, Siku). I can't think of a better way to start my South Africa journey~ Hope be back again some day!

Located in Houghton, The Residence is a boutique hotel that offers spacious suites with a spa bath, and a balcony overlooking the garden, the tennis court or the outdoor pool. We loved the design of this hotel. It was like Ethan Allen had had a hand in decorating the public spaces - it was so perfectly boho British Colonial. We loved the cozy bar and the lush plantings on the grounds of the hotel. Also loved the breezeway with the coy pond on the way to the bar and restaurant. Our room was very comfortable. The staff was laid back while still being professional. We have stayed in many places in South Africa that were super-duper deluxe. We liked that The Residence felt more homey and comfortable without being over the top.
