De Opstal’s old charm accommodations are surrounded by magnificent flower gardens, fruit trees, and fields that are not over-manicured, rather reflective of the owners’ true love of nature and deep desire to create an environment for their guests that engages all their senses. The only downside was having to leave this slice of paradise.

The property is buzzing with history and the staff was really friendly. I will say that the hotel has a bit of a spooky vibe, but I think the power outage due to load shedding may have contributed to the vibe. we booked on a whim and were so happy to find this gem. It was an experience of its own, but close to Cango caves and everything in Outdshoorn.

The owners are the some of the nicest people you can ever hope to meet. I arrived on a Sunday during a motorcycle trip through Cape and had managed to get a puncture. It didnt take long for the owner to have the bike in their own workshop wheel off and on it way to being repaired. The hotel is actively involved in the motorcycle scene in the area was soon introduced to other who came to chat Motorcycle travel. What an awesome evening and a great sleep.

The location is amazing and the food from the kitchen is great. There was no dinner kitchen when I stayed so they gave me meat to cook myself in the room and it was a fantastic experience!
