Fine town with easy access to beautiful lake district.
Has all you need in close proximity. Lots of dodgy driving in town. Stay frosty!
If you're exploring the lakes this is great access and after adventure comforts.

Workington was better than expected Plenty of shops and parking Flowers were blooming and very colourful on a lot of the streets It was a good place for us to stay as a base, we travelled around the coast line up to Gretna where a wedding was going on.
We went around the Lake district and found St Bees a lovely place to watch surfers , swimming and peddle boarding and lots of children enjoying the pools after the sea had gone out
I am of the older generation so like to people watch very relaxing

It's one of the start points for the C2C cycle or walk routes - the others are at Whitehaven or St Bees. Both those are much nicer than Workington.
I ate in the Henry Bessemer - a Wetherspoon's pub, which was good value WYSIWYG. Cheaper there than the awful hotel Waverley by several quid - and drinks much better value too.

A busy little town near the Solway Coast.
A busy little town near the Solway Coast. Tricky one way system until you become used to it. The town has a number of takeaway establishments but would benefit from more eateries. A good leisure centre and nice walks in this area.

Fairly quiet place not too much to do in workington itself.
Fairly quiet place not too much to do in workington itself. Ideal to use as base. We used wetherspoons quite alot for eating and drinking it's about a 5 minute walk away just past the bus station.
We were very impressed with the service and had a great stay. We were a bit disappointed with our first room and asked to upgrade to a room in the associated hotel, Washington Central, and this request was granted. As we were on our honeymoon, the front desk even offered us a huge discount on the upgrade to make our stay more special - it was an above and beyond gesture that we appreciated so much. Great service and nice amenities (pool, sauna, hot tub).
Paul the host was brilliant could not do enough to help, the room was very nice clean and comfy. We didn't stop for breakfast as my wife had a covid booster the previous day and was not up for it. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the area, they have a small cosy bar with a good selection of drinks. If we need to stop overnight in Workington again this will be our first choice.
It is only 28 minutes from Keswick so it is a great choice for a budget vacation in Lake District. I had Room 1 which was on the ground floor close to the entrance (but further from bathroom). Spacious, neat room. Host says bring own toiletries but all you need is shower gel, the rest including towels and toilet paper was available. Location in Workington town is good, quiet, always had parking.
A beautiful property on the outskirts of Workington (although it is on the outskirts you are still walking distance from the centre and shops) . Stylish, spacious and clean with everything you need under one roof. The hosts were amazing! So kind, friendly and accommodating. It was so good we decided to book another night whilst staying in the Lake District!!!
Breakfast was excellent, cooked to order.....fresh fruit salad, plus cereals local produce used ....location is ideal within minutes of all the facilities in Workington town centre, handy for train station. Plus parking readily available.
Loads of hot water and soft fluffy white towels, nothing to much trouble for the hosts. Will stay here again.
Room is good value with all the expected facilities. Really nice bonus that for £10 extra you can use the facilities for the hotel across the road, including sauna, large swimming pool, jacuzzi and gym.
Breakfast was good, fairly priced and well worth it. Location is right in the town if you want to go to any bars or restaurants.
The staff are what make this hotel excellent. From Maisie and Barry on the front desk to Pete the Night Manager. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I left my tablet on the bed and only realised when I was halfway back down the M6. I called the hotel and spoke to Maisie who is arranging posting it back to me.
The location was good and the breakfast was to die for(exceptional). The hostess Sue was at the door ready to greet us which was lovely. Beautiful accommodation and surrounding gardens. I would definitely recommend these cottages and I would also stay there again when visiting Workington. Thank you Sue.
Staff were welcoming and rooms clean. Just what I needed. Radiators were adjustable so I could ramp up the temperature to help dry some wet hiking gear. Early breakfast was useful too as I needed an early start. Hotel was also convenient to the station.
Lovely little cottage in a really nice quiet location of Workington. Super comfortable bed with nice soft bedding. Really clean. Everything you need for home to home environment. The little touches made it extra special. Will definitely stay again.
WE had to move room as it was so noisy from Bars/clubs across the street, don't understand why we were given that room. We had to move. The hotel could do with an upgrade and remove all the carpeting on landings.
