Night time food also looked good but we ate elsewhere just for variety.

The location in the old town of Istambul is fantastic. You can walk to all the outstanding places to see, such as Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, The Cistern, the Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar, Galata Bridge over the Golden Horn, Ferries Terminal and so on. Walk everywhere possible. Visit Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica cisterns and Topkapi Palace but go as early as possible as they get very crowded. For a trip on the Bosporus get the public ferry from under the Galata bridge to the last stop and go up to the castle and then get last ferry back to Istanbul. The first ferry is at 10.35 and the ferry back is at 3ish. It is very reasonable but there is no commentary but we thought it was excellent but be early to get a good view and position on top deck. We found the best restaurant to be Amedros. We went two times and the food is excellent and good value and the staff friendly attentive.

If you go to Topkapi Palace it is worth paying for a guided tour in order to appreciate it. Audio guides are available but in my experience these are often disappointing. The rooms are often empty and there is limited information to read. A guide brings the place to life.
